“We follow the models of responsible and sustainable tourism involved”
Oribay has taken on the challenge to encourage nature tourism and enjoying the marine legacy responsibly. The underlying thought is the belief that birds, sea mammals, coastal fish species and seaweed populations are an integral part of a single ecosystem, within which we can build a new relationship between human being and the environment. As a matter of fact, environmental education is one of the cornerstones of the project, which combines breathtaking and innovative routes with responsible tourism. Oribay offers a chance to get to know the different marine species and their specific characteristics in a natural setting of unparalleled beauty, together with the rocky cliffs of the coastline carved by the constant splash of the waves.
We would like to foster respect towards the sea, its resources and the people who live by it, providing the participants the necessary tools to enjoy a service which will always be safe and comfortable.
In this way, visitors and locals will experience unforgettable days in the waters of the Cantabrian Sea, which becomes an ode to biodiversity through a range of marine species. Oribay will cooperate with the marine investigation unit, Azti-Tecnalia, in its whale watching project, and with other organizations that closely follow the evolution of other marine species such as turtles and jellyfishes.
We will also work together with the non-profit organization Surfrider Foundation Europe, in particular to the initiative Soy Guardacosta, which is aimed at raising awareness on the sea in order to enhance cooperation towards coastal management. This is how we seek to personally involve citizens into coastal management, inspiring the will to protect, safeguard and preserve it.
