Izan Arrantzale 2026, a resounding success: fishing also inspires younger generations

At Oribay, we know that the sea is enjoyed even more when it is experienced up close. That is why we are delighted to be part of Izan Arrantzale, an initiative organised by the Donostia Fishermen’s Guild and created to bring children and young people closer to the world of inshore fishing and the seafaring culture of the Basque Country.
Through practical and educational activities, participants discover what life on board is like, which species live in our waters, how teamwork is essential at sea, what safety measures need to be taken into account, and why sustainability is key to the future of fishing.
The 2026 edition has been a resounding success. Both the programme for children aged 6 to 12 and Izan Arrantzale Barkutik, aimed at young people aged 11 to 17, are now fully booked. All places have been taken, showing the great interest in experiencing the sea from within and learning in a different way.

But the experience does not end there. Although places for Izan Arrantzale 2026 are already sold out, younger visitors, families, groups of friends and adults can still enjoy the sea through Oribay’s organised fishing trips.
Our experiences are open to people of all ages who want to learn how to fish from a boat, discover the coast of San Sebastián from a different perspective, or simply enjoy a special day in contact with the sea.
Whether with family, friends or as part of a visit to San Sebastián, Oribay offers a friendly, flexible experience connected to local culture. We can also guide the trip in English, Spanish, French, Basque… and, of course, in the universal language of good vibes.
If you would like to book a fishing trip in San Sebastián, you can check the online calendar to see available dates and contact Oribay directly by phone, WhatsApp or through the booking form.
